Naturalistic Planting
This is a new bed created in 2008 inspired by the work of Piet Oudolf. The planting consisted of many hardy perennials including Eupatorium, Verbena bonariensis, Crocosmia 'Lucifer, Achillea 'Terracotta', Heleniums and Echinacea. It attracts loads of butterflies and bees mid to late season! A small orchard has also been planted comprising apples, pears, quince and medlars. Work is in progress creating a wild flower meadow, ox eye daisy, small and field scabious, bladder campion and wood avens plugs have been planted.

This is a planting plan for raised beds that I built for a client. The beds were comprised of perennials and hardy shrubs. They were raised for ease of access using heavy timber boarding and chip and block dry stone walls. The beds were covered with a water permeable membrane and bark chipped to reduce the amount of maintenance they required.
Garden Management
Our latest garden management project involves the day to day running of a raised bed vegetable garden, fruit cage, a Hartley Botanic greenhouse, orchard, lawns and mixed borders. There is great emphasis on creating habitat for wildlife. Streams, ponds, wildflower meadows and a new beech hedge have been created along with the erection of bat and bird nesting boxes, lacewing, ladybird and masonry bee homes. We have recently erected a willow hurdle fence around the vegetable beds using willow grown and woven in the West Country.
Block paving patio
Recently constructed in the established garden of a listed thatched cottage. Block paving was used to match as closely as possible the existing brick pathways and to create a space for entertaining outside the new conservatory.
