Portfolio 1
The following are examples of work undertaken for clients.
This is a sketch plan for a municipal planting for Chulmleigh Town. It is sited on an area of grass in a modern housing development. It comprises Betula utilis 'jacquemontii' that has a striking white bark and Cornus alba 'sibirica' that sports a bright red bark. They contrast well with each other. It is underplanted with narcissus bulbs. It brings an area of interest to this site and acts as a focal point for residents.
Cottage garden
A small front garden in a Devon village. The cottage had recently been renovated and the front garden had been damaged by building activity. The beds were dug over and weeds removed we then incorporated soil improvers and installed a gravel path over membrane, running up to the cottage wall. It was planted with cottage garden plants. Linaria purpurea and Alchemilla mollis were planted into the margins of the gravel to soften the edges next to the cottage and are robust enough to cope with rain dripping from the thatch.
York stone terrace
This 25 square metre terrace has recently been completed for a London-based architects rural home. The reclaimed York stone has come from a site near Exeter, all differing in size, thickness and weight. The photographs show work in progress. The result is a terrace that looks as though it has been part of the house and garden for hundreds of years and it didn't cost the Earth.
Wildlife garden in the making

This garden plan was created for a 1 acre site of improved grassland. It incorporates a large pond, a woodland area and ornamental grassland planting along with a shelter belt of native hedge plants and trees on the Western side. We also created a small orchard with quince, medlar, plum, apple and pear trees. It was designed for a client with a love of nature who wanted to increase the diversity of wildlife that visited his garden.
